Will Detroit become the first urban suburb
Will Detroits political reform process make Detroit the first urban town to resemble a suburb? In the current mayors race accusations of experience or the lack thereof, are a main topic in both campaigns. Age has now been made a factor or campaign tactic on both sides. The two candidates are separated in age by over 30 years. The elder being old enough to be the juniors grandparent. And it seems as if everyone has taken sides.
Detroit's Parking Not World Class
Detroit has experienced a dramatic change. The city now has three casinos that are earning millions of dollars in business each day. That means more taxes for the city and state, and should lower the burden on the residents in providing for the cities funding. However, an unforeseen downside to this development has been the lack of parking available to those people who are not casino patrons. This would include city; county or state employees stationed downtown, in addition to the many private employed individuals each day. Moreover, people who visit one of these government offices, use the courts or patronize the private business establishments or some that are in need of parking for other reasons. Casino patrons get valet service while those who work in the city, ultimately supporting all the businesses downtown, are walking.
Detroit Suffers from Police Brutality Allegations
Police brutality has been a problem since before the civil rights movement. People who have such authority over others can and do at times abuse the responsibility. Other countries lacking a separated police unit and military force incur the same allegations albeit under different circumstances.
